I like to piece and patch fabric informally to create abstract artworks in which lines, shapes, colour and spatial connections are important.  Stitching is applied not only for joining fabrics, but to characterise a boundary, for mark making and to create concentrated areas of interest. I particularly enjoy working with natural fabrics and threads.

While I see patterns and shapes in the environment as inspirational sources, I am interested in the way in which textiles can support a narrative as well as mindful of the emotional aspects involved in the stitching process itself. I continue to be inspired by how much more there is to discover in the application of the three components - needle, thread and fabric - as the creative medium for expressing ideas and producing effects.
