MATERIAL EXPRESSIONS

Material Expressions featured work by 8 members of Consuo Textile Art. 

Inspiration came from both urban and natural landscapes, from deep connections to place through personal history and natural resources, and from the materials and processes themselves.  

 

Each artist skilfully uses their fine craft skills to explore boundaries and use materials in new ways.  Whilst some of their techniques are comfortingly familiar, others meld the traditional and the contemporary to create surprising new forms of expression.  Expect hand-stitch, basketry, weaving, knitting, felting, natural dyeing and more, but not always as you’ve seen them before.
